1 cup scalded milk
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons sugar
1 Teaspoon salt
1 package granular yeast
1/4 cup lukewarm water
1 well beaten egg
3 1/2 cups flour

Empty the yeast packet into 1/4 cup water
Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm.
Add yeast/water to mixture. Add beaten egg.
Gradually stir in flour-beat vigoously (my mom was proud of herself when she came up with that word)
Let rise in warm place 2 hours. Form rolls or loaf. Let rise another hour.
Then bake at 350 for approximately 25-30 min. Until golden brown.

scalded milk is milk just before it boils.

And I'll look to see how much a packet of yeast is when I get home.
